Twelve days before the deadline for the integration of the terrorist organization SDG into the Syrian army, the Damascus administration took its first concrete step. Following Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's statement that "our patience is running out," a 13-article integration roadmap was officially communicated to the terrorist organization SDG. One of the notable points in the proposal was the commitment that the army and security forces affiliated with Damascus would not enter northeastern Syria.

After the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria, the Damascus administration took the first concrete step regarding the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the new state structure. Syrian Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Kasra announced that the 13-article integration roadmap, approved by Interim President Ahmed al-Shara, has been officially communicated to the SDF.

TO BE ANNOUNCED IN THE COMING DAYS

A government official speaking to the Syria-based +963 media stated that the implementation mechanism for the integration process will be announced to the public in the coming days, expressing that the process includes both political and military dimensions.

TO BE RESTRUCTURED AS THREE SEPARATE DIVISIONS

According to the proposal presented by the Damascus administration, the SDF will be restructured as three separate divisions within the Syrian army. In this context, the first division is planned to serve as the Border Protection Division, responsible for the security of the northeastern borders. The second division will be structured as the Women's Division, encompassing the existing women's units within the SDF. The third division has been defined as the Counter-Terrorism Division, which will directly coordinate with the Damascus administration in operations against extremist groups.

The Negotiation Committee of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria also announced that a preliminary agreement has been reached on the preservation of three SDF units within the military structure of the Syrian army. According to Syria in Transition magazine, the SDF opposes the deployment of other units of the Syrian army east of the Euphrates and conditions the presence of only its own divisions in the region.

SYRIAN ARMY WILL NOT ENTER NORTHEASTERN COUNTRY

One of the notable articles of the proposal was the commitment that the army and security forces affiliated with Damascus would not enter northeastern Syria. This arrangement is considered to largely preserve the SDF's de facto autonomous control in the region. The plan also foresees that three positions, including the deputy minister of defense, the deputy minister of interior, and the deputy chief of staff, will be given to candidates proposed by the SDF. It is also planned that approximately 70 senior members of the SDF will be included in the command structure of the new Syrian army.

MINISTER FIDAN: OUR PATIENCE IS RUNNING OUT

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in an interview with TRT World, stated that the implementation of the March 10 agreement has been delayed and called on the SDF. Fidan said, "We only hope that things progress through dialogue, negotiations, and peaceful means. However, the SDF must understand that the patience of the relevant actors is running out," he said. The integration process, which is expected to be implemented by December 31, 2025, is seen as a critical threshold that will determine the new security architecture of Syria in terms of both Damascus-SDF relations and Turkey, the USA, and regional actors.
