Israel announced last month that it had signed a $2.3 billion arms deal, but it did not disclose the counterpart involved in the agreement to the public. It has been claimed that the second largest defense agreement in Israel's history was made with the United Arab Emirates. The fact that the agreement, which will last for eight years, was signed shortly after the ceasefire declared in Gaza has drawn attention.
It has been claimed that the $2.3 billion arms deal announced last month by Israeli defense industry company Elbit Systems was made with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The agreement is said to be the second largest defense deal in Israeli history.
THE PARTY WITH WHOM THE AGREEMENT WAS SIGNED HAS NOT BEEN DISCLOSED
In a statement made last month, Israeli defense industry company Elbit Systems announced that it had signed a $2.3 billion arms deal, but did not share the identity of the other party with the public. However, according to claims, it was stated that the buyer was the United Arab Emirates.
ADVANCED VERSION OF AIRCRAFT PROTECTION SYSTEMS
According to reports, the UAE purchased an advanced version of the aircraft protection systems called "J-MUSIC" from Elbit Systems. This system, based on laser technology, is designed to disable the sensors of surface-to-air missiles launched at aircraft. It has been noted that the technology in question will also be produced in the UAE as part of a project jointly developed by Israel and the UAE.
THE AGREEMENT WILL LAST FOR 8 YEARS
The agreement, which is planned to last for 8 years, is stated to be the second largest arms deal signed to date from the perspective of the Israeli defense industry. It was also reported that the UAE has invested in an Israeli company called Third Eye, which develops technologies against unmanned aerial vehicles.
CAUGHT ATTENTION OVER TIME
The signing of these agreements with Israeli companies shortly after the ceasefire declared in Gaza also drew attention. Evaluations were made that the Tel Aviv administration aims to strengthen its position in the region and establish strategic alliances with these steps.
It is known that the defense industry cooperation between Israel and the UAE gained momentum after the Abraham Accords signed in 2020, which encompassed the normalization process with Arab countries. Following this process, Israeli defense companies became more active in the UAE, and Elbit Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries opened offices in Abu Dhabi.
