In the case of the murder of Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found 19 days after she went missing in Diyarbakır, the appeal against the detention of her mother, Yüksel Güran, who was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment, was rejected by the Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court. The court decided to continue Yüksel Güran's detention.

HER LAWYER HAD REQUESTED HER RELEASE

Yılmaz Demiroğlu, Yüksel Güran's lawyer, submitted a petition to the Diyarbakır 8th Heavy Criminal Court, which is conducting the trial, to be sent to the Diyarbakır 9th Heavy Criminal Court, requesting the release of his client.

THE COURT RULED TO CONTINUE THE DEFENDANT'S DETENTION

Evaluating the request, the Diyarbakır 9th Heavy Criminal Court found no inaccuracies in the decision of the Diyarbakır 8th Heavy Criminal Court regarding the continuation of Yüksel Güran's detention, which was made on December 28, 2024, and concluded that the decision was in accordance with procedure and law, thus rejecting the release request made by the defendant's lawyers and unanimously ruling for the continuation of the defendant's detention.

THE COURT HAD SENTENCED TO AGGRAVATED LIFE IMPRISONMENT

In the decision hearing held on December 28, 2024, at the Diyarbakır 8th Heavy Criminal Court, detained defendants mother Yüksel, brother Enes, and uncle Salim Güran were each sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for "intentional murder of a child in participation," while Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for "destroying, concealing, or altering evidence of a crime."
