In the political espionage investigation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, a detention order has been issued for 4 individuals from the Smart City Department and the Communication Coordination Center.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has issued detention orders for 4 suspects regarding the leak and sale of user data through the Istanbul Senin application, as part of the investigation into the organized crime group established by Ekrem İmamoğlu.

THERE IS A STATEMENT FROM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

In a statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the following was stated: "As part of the investigation into the organized crime group established by Ekrem İMAMOĞLU; it has been determined that the personal data and location information of 4.7 million application users have been leaked to two different foreign countries through the application named 'ISTANBUL SENİN', the personal data and location information of 3.7 million application users have been put up for sale on the 'dark web', and the election data of 11 million citizens have been processed and leaked outside the program within the sub-application named 'IBB HANEM' included in the same application. Detention orders have been issued for a total of 4 suspects, two of whom are from the IBB Smart City Department and the other two from the Communication Coordination Center, who have been identified in the statements taken by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office as having connections with the organization leaders and being involved in the processing and sending of the data abroad, on charges of unlawfully disseminating personal data and being a member of a criminal organization."

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had initiated a 'espionage' investigation against CHP's imprisoned presidential candidate and IBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu, TELE 1 Television's General Broadcast Director Merdan Yanardağ, and İmamoğlu's advisor and campaign director Necati Özkan. As part of the investigation, Yanardağ was arrested, and searches were conducted by the police at his home and at the TELE1 building. The key figure in the prosecutor's investigation, which used the expression "Ekrem İmamoğlu criminal organization," was Hüseyin Gün.
