Iran announced that the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, belonging to the United States and approaching the country's maritime borders in the Oman Sea, was targeted by drones from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, and that the ship has moved away from the area.
On February 28, the attacks launched by the USA and Israel against Iran turned the region into a bloodbath. While many Iranian cities, including the capital Tehran, were hit, Iran also began retaliatory strikes.
THEY TARGETED THE US AIRCRAFT CARRIER
Iran announced that the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier belonging to the USA was targeted once again. In a statement made by the Hatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), it was stated, "The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, which approached approximately 340 kilometers from Iran's maritime borders in the Oman Sea with the aim of controlling the Strait of Hormuz, was targeted by drones belonging to the IRGC Navy."
"THEY QUICKLY DISTANCED THEMSELVES FROM THE AREA"
The statement indicated that the targeted aircraft carrier, along with its accompanying destroyers, quickly distanced itself from the area and has covered more than a thousand kilometers from the region so far.
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN SHIP
The USS Abraham Lincoln, as one of the nuclear-powered Nimitz-class aircraft carriers of the US Navy, is among the most powerful military deterrence tools in Washington's arsenal.
The ship, which is approximately 333 meters long, can carry more than 5,000 personnel and can deploy dozens of fighter jets simultaneously.
