The Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced that production and pumping at the Rumaila field have been halted as of today due to the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz. Rumaila is known as the second largest oil field in the world.

The attacks launched by the US and Israel on Iran on February 28 turned the world upside down. Iran's response to the US and Israel, which carried out attacks on many Iranian cities, especially Tehran, was harsh.

Iran, which launched attacks on Israel and US bases in the region, effectively blocked oil trade by closing the Strait of Hormuz.

PRODUCTION STOPPED IN THE WORLD'S SECOND LARGEST OIL FIELD

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz disrupted oil production. Production and pumping were halted in the Rumaila field, known as the world's second-largest oil field, located in Iraq.

In a statement made by the Basra Oil Company, affiliated with the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, the reason for the decision was cited as international political developments and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz disrupting maritime transportation.

BRITISH COMPANY HAD ALSO STOPPED PRODUCTION

British Gulf Keystone, which operates the Sheikhhan field in the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (IKBY), announced that it had temporarily halted oil production due to increasing attacks. It was stated that the decision was made for security purposes, while emphasizing that there was no physical damage in the fields.
