PRETEXT FOR ATTACK ON DRUZE
In a statement from the army, the attack was justified by citing "attacks on the Druze population in Suwayda, southern Syria."
In the statement, it was claimed that the Israeli army targeted a command center and weapon depots at military bases belonging to the Damascus regime in southern Syria throughout the night, and it threatened that it would continue its attacks under the pretext of protecting Druze in Syria.
ISRAEL'S ATTACKS ON SYRIA
The Israeli army occupied the buffer zone adjacent to the Golan Heights, which it has held since 1967, on December 8, 2024, and conducted over 1,000 airstrikes and more than 400 ground attacks on Syria from December 8, 2024, to September 18.
Negotiations were held for a security agreement between Israel and Syria, during which Israel did not carry out any attacks on Syria.
It was claimed that on March 17, Israel conducted an airstrike on a target unrelated to the Damascus regime in Syria, hitting a truck.
