RECORDED AS SUICIDE
As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the body belonged to 16-year-old Gönül Çelen, a mother of two. The incident was recorded as a suicide in police records.
POLICE ACTED UPON THE TIP-OFF
After 20 years of the case gathering dust on the shelves, it was reopened with a tip-off. It was learned that the informant claimed the young woman was a victim of murder. In the investigation initiated by the Homicide Bureau, 7 suspects, including 4 women, were detained in operations conducted at addresses in Muğla, Edirne, Sakarya, Trabzon, and Istanbul.
FORENSIC MEDICINE INSTITUTION SAID "SHE COULDN'T WALK"
In the examination conducted by the Homicide Bureau, it was determined that Gönül Çelen's body had a blood alcohol level of 304 promille. It was stated that a person with such a level of alcohol would be unable to walk and it would not be possible for her to reach the train tracks on her own.
IT WAS REVEALED THAT A DIFFERENT SIM CARD WAS INSERTED INTO HER PHONE TO MAKE A CALL
Additionally, it was revealed that a different SIM card was inserted into Gönül Çelen's phone to make a call just a few minutes after the time of the alleged suicide. Among the suspects interrogated at the public order branch were Gönül Çelen's friends she last met, her former boss, the owner of the SIM card that was inserted into her phone, and the first person called with that card.
TWO WEAPONS WERE SEIZED
It was learned that two unlicensed pistols made from blank guns and a large number of bullets were seized from one of the houses that were raided. The suspects were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station.
