Some trucks got stuck on the Kars-Erzurum highway due to heavy snowfall, and transportation is being provided in a controlled manner on a single lane.
The snowfall that started yesterday in the region and continued intermittently is disrupting transportation. Due to heavy snow on the Kars-Erzurum highway in the vicinity of Mescitli village, trucks got stuck on the road. The road was closed to traffic due to some trucks swerving.
TRUCKS RESCUED
Teams from the 18th Regional Directorate of Highways, dispatched to the area upon notification, began working. In the area where some trucks were rescued, traffic started to be controlled in a single lane.
"THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SPRING"
Truck driver Yusuf Aslan, who got stuck on the road, stated that the cold and rainy weather negatively affected the drivers, saying, "There is no such thing as spring; in the past, March would show itself through the window, now even April is doing the same."
Meanwhile, transportation on village roads was also disrupted due to heavy snow. Vehicles stuck in the village of Akdere, connected to the center of Kars, were rescued by citizens with the help of tractors.
Precipitation continues to have an impact in the city.
