In a live broadcast from the Parliament garden, İYİ Party Deputy Chairman Cenk Özatıcı stated that there is an intention to grant Abdullah Öcalan the right to hope, and that is why they did not participate in the Terror-Free Turkey commission. Özatıcı said, "The Council of Europe recently stated in its decision, 'Give Öcalan the right to hope.' We have the text of the decision."
The 28th Term 4th Legislative Year of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey has begun. Haberler.com reported live from the Assembly garden, conveying the events of this special day moment by moment.
İYİ PARTY'S ÖZATICI CLAIMS "RIGHT TO HOPE FOR ÖCALAN"
One of the guests of Haberler.com was İYİ Party Deputy Chairman Cenk Özatıcı. Responding to questions from Haberler.com News Director Olgun Kızıltepe and presenter Melis Yaşar, Özatıcı explained why İYİ Party did not participate in the Terror-Free Turkey Commission established in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Özatıcı claimed that the aim was to grant a right to hope to Abdullah Öcalan and shared a report from the European Commission.
Özatıcı stated: "Last year on September 24, the Dem Party submitted a bill to the Assembly presidency, 103 in total. All of them are the same, asking for a right to hope for Öcalan. A week later, exactly one year ago today, on October 1, the Assembly opened. Today, Mr. Erdoğan reached out to the DEM Party, as you know. On that day, Mr. Bahçeli also extended his hand. And one week after the submission of 103 bills, Mr. Bahçeli goes to the DEM Party group and extends his hand on October 1. On October 2, the DEM Party says, 'We can support the Constitution.'
"THE TERROR-FREE TURKEY COMMISSION WAS NOT ESTABLISHED TO FIND THE BEST FOR TURKEY"
And on October 22, for the first time, Mr. Bahçeli brings up the issue of the right to hope for the terrorist leader Öcalan. Therefore, this process actually started like this. And now our claim is this. The reason why İYİ Party is not included in the commission is this. This commission is not a negotiation, a discussion, an exchange of ideas desiring better and more beautiful for Turkey, a clash of thesis and antithesis, and a democratic procedure established to find the best for Turkey.
"THE EUROPEAN COUNCIL SAID 'GRANT A RIGHT TO HOPE FOR ÖCALAN'"
This commission is already a commission that we claim was established to legitimize a tacit agreement made previously by İmralı, the People's Alliance, and the Dem Party, and we see that Europe and America have also been involved in this. We are presenting evidence related to this.
The other day, I presented a piece of evidence. It's something important. You know there is the European Council. We are also a member. The European Council recently made a decision. It was not brought to the Turkish public. The European Council's decision states, 'Grant this right to hope to this terrorist leader.' We have the text of the decision. It says, 'You have established a commission. Its name is the Brotherhood Democracy Commission. You can grant the right to hope there. If you do not want to grant it there, there were bills submitted to the Assembly.' It refers to the Dem Party. 'Maybe you can legislate those proposals.' it says.
So actually, we are in a process that I describe as being directed by Europe, ordered by America, cooked by the People's Alliance, and presented by the Communications Directorate as a Terror-Free Turkey, but unfortunately, this is a process in which the legitimization of the murderer of fifty thousand Turkish citizens is taking place and politics, and worse, the Assembly is being placed at the center.
Therefore, our General Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu has repeatedly stated this. We are completely against any equation that will be established on the basis of 'PKK equals Öcalan. Öcalan equals Kurds' and we believe that this could cause great harm to Turkey."
