The Grand National Assembly of Turkey convened under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, to mark the beginning of the 28th Term, 4th Legislative Year.
Highlights from the opening speech of the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, Kurtulmuş, are as follows: "The Grand National Assembly of Turkey is a democracy platform that fulfills the oversight function on behalf of the nation, in addition to its legislative activities. Israel is openly attacking our region. The Grand National Assembly has always stood together against this."
"THE CHAINS ON THE NATION'S FEET WILL BE A THING OF THE PAST"
The National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission's efforts are aimed at completely eliminating terrorism. I thank the political parties that contributed to the Commission. The chains that have been placed on the nation's feet will be a thing of the past. I have no doubt that we will succeed, and brotherhood will prevail in Turkey until the end. A Turkey without terrorism will enhance our global power.
"WE MUST PRESENT A NEW PARLIAMENTARY INTERNAL REGULATION STUDY"
Undoubtedly, this parliament has other significant responsibilities as well. One of these is the responsibility to prepare a new constitution. We must also present a new parliamentary internal regulation study.
"THERE IS ONLY ONE SOURCE OF POLITICAL LEGITIMACY IN TURKEY"
Discussions about legitimacy are null and void. There is only one source of political legitimacy in Turkey, and that is the will given by the nation itself. I mention this to note the discussions. I wish the new legislative year brings new successes."
