"I DO NOT ACCEPT THESE ALLEGATIONS"

Ayşe Barım stated, "As a citizen, I have fulfilled my responsibilities in my country throughout my life, and I have been a working and productive woman since I was 19. I have never committed any crime in my life, nor have I ever been involved as a witness in any investigation. I have been detained for 248 days on very serious accusations and allegations, and I ask myself the same questions repeatedly every day. What did I do? Why was I arrested? I do not know the answers to these questions because I truly do not accept these allegations and have no connection to them. This unjust process I am currently experiencing honestly scares me a bit. I want to believe in and trust the weight of justice, but I am helpless and struggling a bit. Because I am really fighting brain and heart issues alone in a cell, and as far as I understand, I am also a bit tired." she said.

DESCRIBED HEALTH ISSUES

The presiding judge reminded that the last health report was not obtained due to the defendant's refusal to go to the hospital, while Ayşe Barım detailed her health condition at the stand. Barım stated, "I have lost more than 30 kilograms. Hospitals, reports, my fainting spells, petitions, our objections, our presentations. I have not been able to fully convince anyone that I am ill. I do not actually refuse treatment; I want to clarify this as well. Since June, serious fainting spells began related to my heart disease, and my referrals to state hospitals started due to these fainting spells. I was referred to those places in such a difficult way that I went to various state hospitals at least 12 times. I was last referred from Çam and Sakura Hospital to the Science Board. All my MRIs and everything are already available. I do not understand why the Forensic Medicine Institution referred me somewhere again. I need to be treated. Despite all my hospital reports stating that I urgently need surgery, these have been ignored. All my reports were completed at the state hospitals I was referred to. When I was last referred, my vein needed to be opened, but they could not find the vein, and my whole arm turned purple. I want to have my own surgery done. Along with my two aneurysms, I also developed an aneurysm in prison. I want to have my surgeries done under the supervision of my own doctor. I also want to hold on to my fundamental right to life." she expressed.

LAWYERS REQUESTED RELEASE

During the hearing, the defendant's lawyers emphasized that their client denied the allegations. The lawyers requested that Barım be tried without detention, and if this was not accepted, they at least wanted her to be released under judicial control provisions.

COURT DECISION FOR RELEASE

After the defenses, the court panel ruled for Ayşe Barım's release under judicial control conditions in its interim decision. Barım's case will be heard again in the coming days.
