Speaking at the "Digital Journalism and Media Workshop" organized by TİGAD in Şanlıurfa, former General Manager of Sözcü TV, Alişer Delek, stated that artificial intelligence has fundamentally changed the direction of journalism, saying, "It is vital not only to use artificial intelligence but also to ask the right question."

"ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IS AN INESCAPABLE PHENOMENON"

Speaking in the second session of the workshop hosted by Harran University Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Delek emphasized that artificial intelligence has now become an indispensable tool in journalism.

Delek said, "We were born with Google. Artificial intelligence is no different. It is an inescapable phenomenon. The important thing is to use it without forgetting the principles of journalism."

"LIKE MY BEST FRIEND, BUT NOT ENOUGH ON ITS OWN"

Stating that he actively and extensively uses artificial intelligence, Delek mentioned that he works with multiple AI tools and trains them like journalists, saying, "I use not one, but four artificial intelligences. I have trained all of them and taught them to cross-verify. I even have news conversations with AI while walking my dog in the morning."

"THE MAIN ISSUE IS TO ASK THE RIGHT QUESTION"

Pointing out that artificial intelligence can produce misleading results, Delek expressed that the journalist's role is crucial here, stating, "I do not ask artificial intelligence, 'Who is the new Minister of Interior?' I ask, 'Is there an official statement?' At this stage, the most important thing is to ask the right question to artificial intelligence."

SEPARATING FICTION FROM REALITY IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT

The experienced journalist noted that the content produced with artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly realistic, stating that distinguishing between fictional news and real news is becoming more difficult every day. Delek said, "Videos have become indistinguishable. I don't even know how to tell them apart. That's why we still need journalists and reliable sources."
