Turkey's grain warehouse, Konya, is drawing attention with its rise in the defense industry. In the last 10 years, the city has increased its exports in the sector fivefold, achieving an export value of 165.7 million dollars in 2024. In the first six months of this year, it surpassed 96 million dollars. Konya, which produces in various fields ranging from short-barreled weapons to high-precision parts, has become one of the strongest supporters of the domestic defense industry.
There are 51 supplier companies operating in various fields from short-barreled weapon production to mechanical parts in Konya. While there are more than 12,000 qualified workforce in the city, it has become an important center in the defense industry that reduces foreign dependency, thanks to its craftsmanship and technology in production.
DEFENSE INDUSTRY EXPORT ATTACK FROM KONYA
Mustafa Büyükeğen, the President of the Konya Chamber of Industry, emphasized that the city is the 4th largest city in Turkey in defense and aerospace industry exports. Büyükeğen stated, "Our companies have Ministry of National Defense approved, and the quality standards in production are quite high. Our exports are growing every year."

Selçuk Öztürk, the President of the Konya Chamber of Commerce, stated, "This city produces in many areas from small caliber weapons to high-precision mechanical parts. Every part produced reduces foreign dependency and contributes to our defense economy."
