At the COP30 summit in Brazil, the Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, announced that COP31, to be held in 2025, will take place under Turkey's hosting and presidency. Leaders from 196 countries will come to Turkey for the summit.
At the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) held in Brazil, following negotiations led by Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, the host for next year's COP31 Conference of the Parties has been announced.
196 COUNTRY LEADERS WILL COME TO TURKEY
It has been decided that the conference will be held under the hosting and presidency of Turkey. Leaders from 196 countries will come to Turkey for the summit.
MINISTER KURUM ANNOUNCED THE DECISION IN BRAZIL
Announcing the decision, Minister Kurum stated, "From today, we are starting our most meaningful marathon for our future. As Turkey, we commit to organizing a fair and balanced conference of parties that focuses not only on our own region but also on vulnerable areas such as the Pacific and Africa, connecting the north and south. We are eagerly and impatiently looking forward to hosting you all at COP31 in Turkey, the heart of the world, the bridge of continents and civilizations."

"Hundreds of bilateral meetings, climate-focused visits to dozens of countries, days of diplomatic negotiations... And finally, COP31 President and Host Turkey! With this historic responsibility, we are starting our most meaningful marathon for our common home, our world, from today.
In line with the 2053 Net Zero Emission Target and green transformation vision put forth by our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; we will implement a fair, inclusive, participatory, and transparent process.
With the Zero Waste mobilization, which has turned into a global environmental movement today; under the patronage of Mrs. Emine Erdoğan, we will continue to make significant contributions to the future of our common home, the world.
As in every matter concerning our country and the world, Turkey will again be the address of trust, hope, and the future. I wish that this decision will be beneficial for all parties, our region, and the global climate struggle."
