Former Germany national team sporting director Matthias Sammer reacted strongly to Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann's statements regarding Leroy Sane. Former Germany National Team Sports Director Matthias Sammer reacted to Germany's head coach Julian Nagelsmann's statements about Leroy Sane.
"I WAS SURPRISED BY THE DISPARAGING COMMENTS"
Speaking to Bild, Matthias Sammer responded to what Nagelsmann said, stating, "I was a bit surprised by the disparaging comments about Turkish football. Leroy made a decision, and he has good reasons for it."
'INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE IS NECESSARY'
Sammer, who said that players should be called up to the national team based on their individual performances, expressed, "Are we no longer including him in the National Team? Or will we take him to the national team just because he plays there, even if he doesn't perform well? I have always believed that individual performance is necessary for the national team."
"THEN RONALDO SHOULD NOT PLAY EITHER"
Using Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for the Saudi Arabian team Al Nassr, as an example, Sammer stated, "Otherwise, Cristiano Ronaldo should not play for Portugal anymore, because he is also playing somewhere far away and not in a higher league!"
WHAT DID NAGELSMANN SAY?
Germany National Team head coach Julian Nagelsmann explained why he did not call up Leroy Sane with the following words; "Leroy is now playing in a league that is a bit worse than the Bundesliga. He needs to stand out more. He still needs a little time for things to fall into place, but that is completely normal, and I communicated this to him: I am not expecting a miracle."
