Sharing footage of the moment the individual was brought to the police station, Yerlikaya stated, "We will continue to fight decisively against those who threaten public peace and those who disregard traffic safety."
A man who assaulted a father warning him for speeding in Kocaeli was caught by police teams in Istanbul in front of his children.
A father taking his children to school in the Gebze district of Kocaeli was assaulted by the driver of a luxury SUV he warned for speeding. The footage of the incident caused an uproar. As those moments were captured by security cameras, many users on social media called for action against the individual.
ARREST WARRANT ISSUED
Following the shocking footage, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç made a statement. Tunç announced on his social media account that an arrest warrant had been issued for the person who attacked the father.
In his statement, Tunç said, "An investigation has been initiated by the Gebze Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the physical assault on our citizen who warned a driver speeding on a street in the Gebze district of Kocaeli in front of the children he was taking to school."
CAUGHT IN ISTANBUL
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that the suspect was caught in Istanbul following the initiated investigation. Sharing footage of the moments when the suspect was brought to the police station, Yerlikaya stated, "The suspect who slapped the father warning the driver speeding on the street in the Gebze district of Kocaeli in front of his children has been identified as O.C. (33).
After the efforts of our Kocaeli Police Department, the suspect was caught in Istanbul. The violence against the father in front of his children not only threatens the children's sense of security but also directly threatens the peace of our society.
We will continue to fight decisively against those who threaten public peace and bullies who disregard traffic safety," he added.
