The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, announced that Turkey will begin gold production in Africa for the first time in 2025.

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, made evaluations regarding the agenda. Speaking in a program he attended on CNN Türk, Bayraktar stated that Turkey will produce gold in Africa.

"WE WILL ACHIEVE OUR FIRST GOLD PRODUCTION IN 2025"

Minister Bayraktar said, "We are continuing our work related to oil, natural gas, and minerals in Njier, Sudan, and Somalia. We will achieve our first gold production in Niger in 2025. We have passed the exploration phase. Currently, our work related to different fields is ongoing."

Bayraktar pointed out that the essence of the explorations off the coast of Somalia is also oil, and he stated that the data collection process will take 6-7 months. Bayraktar said, "There is a special situation regarding the work in Somalia. Our presence in Somalia and in other geographies is a reflection of our policy to reduce our dependence on foreign energy. As Turkey, we are going for a very large project for an exploration project in the open sea of Somalia. For the first time in our history, Turkey will search for hydrocarbons, and we will carry out this activity in other countries with our own ships."
