The ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in Gaza will come into effect tomorrow at 09:30.
Speaking at a press conference in Baku during his working visit with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made evaluations regarding the ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza.
"WE WILL FOLLOW UP ON MAKING THE CEASEFIRE PERMANENT"
Expressing satisfaction with the establishment of the ceasefire, Fidan said, "We will follow up on making the ceasefire permanent and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches Gaza."
"TWO-STATE SOLUTION IS A DIFFICULT AND LONG STEP"
Fidan stated, "I hope that from now on we can implement the two-state solution and achieve normalization in the region." He added, "Especially, the two-state solution is a difficult and long step. It is a step that some do not want. It is well known that without this, the region will not be safe and stable. We will continue to do our best."
In response to a question from an Azerbaijani journalist regarding the ceasefire in Gaza, Fidan gave the following answer:
"STOPPING THE MASSACRE IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR US"
"Stopping the massacre and destruction that has been ongoing for 15 months is extremely important for us. The daily occurrence of civilian and child casualties not only wounds the conscience of humanity but also causes the international system's values to collapse."
"TURKEY WILL DO ITS BEST"
We hope that this ceasefire continues from now on. It is important that humanitarian aid is allowed to reach every part of Gaza without interruption. It is crucial for Palestinians to return to their homes. We are in winter conditions. Currently, there are 2 million people in a difficult situation. In this regard, Turkey will certainly do its best.
