Following the death of 2-year-old Rana, the issue of stray dogs is back on the agenda. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made statements regarding stray animals at the Batman Municipality Animal Care and Rehabilitation Center. Minister Yerlikaya stated, "Those at fault will be investigated. Necessary actions will be taken against those who do not comply with the regulations. 39 inspectors will audit the municipalities every two months."

The death of baby Rana in Konya has brought dog attacks to the forefront, once again raising the issue of the law regarding street animals. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that inspectors will conduct investigations on this matter for 14 days in all 81 provinces. Minister Yerlikaya stated that municipalities will be subjected to inspections every two months.

"THEY WILL PROVIDE GUIDANCE"

Minister Yerlikaya, who said, "Our inspectors will examine the practices of governorships, metropolitan municipalities, and local municipalities on-site," emphasized, "This is not an investigation process; it is an assessment of the situation."

Explaining that the inspectors will review what has been done since the implementation date of August 2 for stray street animals, Minister Yerlikaya stated, "They will identify issues of neglect and request that necessary measures be taken."

"SOME MUNICIPALITIES ARE LEAVING ANIMALS IN OTHER DISTRICTS"

Minister Yerlikaya mentioned, "There are mothers who cannot take their children to the park due to the fear of stray animals. There are citizens who are worried while going to the mosque in the morning." He expressed that they respect every living being and want to take good care of stray street animals.

Stating that uncontrolled breeding must be prevented, Minister Yerlikaya explained that some municipalities are leaving stray animals within the borders of other municipalities instead of collecting them. He announced that necessary measures have been taken regarding this issue and that they will initiate an administrative investigation.
