ESCAPED BY DIGGING A TUNNEL UNDER ITS CAGE
The two-year-old male wolf escaped from the O-World zoo in the Jung-gu district of Daejeon on Wednesday morning. Authorities stated that the animal dug a tunnel under its cage to flee.
SIGHTED NEAR A PRIMARY SCHOOL
Hours later, the predatory animal was found lying in wait near a primary school. Footage captured moments of the wolf roaming the streets and walking along a busy main road.
WIDESPREAD OPERATION IN THE CITY
A team consisting of 35 firefighters, 116 police officers, and approximately 100 zoo staff was assigned to capture the animal. Daejeon City officials issued a "disaster" warning to citizens, urging them to be cautious. The warning stated, "It has been confirmed that the wolf that escaped from O-World is heading towards the O-World intersection, so please take precautions for your own safety."
ACTIVITIES SUSPENDED
O-World Zoo suspended all activities following the escape. Authorities indicated that internal search operations were ongoing without accepting visitors.
