As a new era begins in Syria following the overthrow of the 61-year Baath regime, terrorist elements at our border continue to pose a threat.
ERDOĞAN: WE CAN COME SUDDENLY ONE NIGHT
President Erdoğan's statement after the Cabinet meeting, "We can come suddenly one night," and then Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's warning, "If you do not want a military operation, the conditions are clear from us and the new administration. They will either fulfill the requirements and lay down their arms, or they will be buried in that land with their weapons," led to the border units being put on alert for a possible operation.
MINISTRY OF NATIONAL DEFENSE SIGNALS FOR OPERATION
Sources from the Ministry of National Defense also gave the first signal today with their statement regarding the operation. In the statement from the Ministry of National Defense, it was emphasized that "The Turkish Armed Forces believe in the importance of global cooperation and international solidarity against terrorism, and in this context, they expect the international community to recognize terrorist organizations such as PKK/YPG/SDG as terrorist organizations and to engage in more effective cooperation in the fight against terrorism."
The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) reiterates at every opportunity that terrorist groups should not be supported and that respect must be shown for Syria's territorial integrity. The Tishrin Dam on the Euphrates River, which is strategically important in terms of water resources, energy production, and regional security, is considered the last line of defense by the terrorist organization PKK/YPG/SDG. The TAF strongly condemns the attempt by the PKK/YPG/SDG terrorist organization to use innocent civilians as human shields in the Tishrin Dam area of Syria and emphasizes that such actions are contrary to reason and logic, international law, human rights, and humanity.
The use of civilians as human shields by PKK/YPG/SDG in the Tishrin Dam area, and even the deployment of terrorist groups in civilian clothing to the region, is an act that can only be carried out by terrorist groups and constitutes a violation of human rights. Such actions are ruthless methods that disregard the lives of innocent people for the sake of the interests of terrorist organizations. This activity, directed by the Kandil mentality, brings new troubles to our Kurdish brothers rather than benefiting them. The use of civilians as human shields by terrorist organizations is not only an inhumane approach but also an act that demonstrates the desperation and moral collapse of these organizations. Developments in the region are of great importance for both Syria's internal security and Turkey's border security.
The TAF is determined to prevent terrorist organizations such as PKK/YPG/SDG from disrupting stability in the region by using such strategic infrastructures. The TAF is resolute in continuing its cross-border operations if terrorist groups do not lay down their arms, while respecting Syria's territorial integrity and the peaceful aspirations of its people, in order to ensure the security of our country and our borders and to protect our rights and interests. This determination will continue until all terrorist elements threatening peace in the region are eliminated, within the framework of the legitimate defense rights under international law and the United Nations Charter.
