Nazar S., an 8-year-old boy who was kidnapped by his father from his German mother in Bursa and found in a dilapidated house during an operation conducted 7 years later, has reunited with his mother.

“THEY KIDNAPPED ME SAYING I WAS 'LOST'

Umut K., who lives in the Mustafakemalpaşa district, had a son named Nazar in 2018 with his girlfriend Rebecca S., whom he started living with while working in Germany. After separating from his father a year later, he came to Bursa to visit his mother Hanife S., who had remarried. He kidnapped his 1-year-old son Nazar S. by claiming that he was lost. After Rebecca S. went to the police to file a complaint, an investigation was launched regarding the incident. Umut K. passed away two years ago due to a heart attack. Meanwhile, the Mustafakemalpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office expanded the investigation after suspecting Hanife S., who was released under the condition of reporting to the police once a week after being detained.

30 DAYS OF SURVEILLANCE, 300 HOURS OF FOOTAGE

Nazar, who had not been found for 7 years, was located in a dilapidated house where he was held by his grandmother through a special team formed by the personnel of the Gasp Bureau, Homicide Bureau, and Missing Persons Bureau of the Provincial Security Directorate, after 30 days of technical and physical surveillance and 300 hours of camera footage. His grandmother Hanife S. and Umut K.'s cousin Recai M. were arrested.

IT WAS SAID HIS MOTHER ABANDONED HIM

It was claimed that negative statements were constantly made about the child's mother by the Family and Social Services Provincial Directorate, which took the child under protection. It was alleged that the father and grandmother said, "She was a bad woman. She never loved you. That's why she left. We will take care of you now," and that Nazar S. was asked repeatedly, "You don't love your mother, do you?" to which he responded, "Yes, I don't love her."

MOTHER CAME FROM GERMANY

Rebecca S., who came to Bursa from Germany after receiving the news that her son had been found, saw her child for the first time in 7 years at the Family and Social Services Provincial Directorate, accompanied by a lawyer and officials from the German Consulate. Initially, Nazar was not told that Rebecca S. was his mother, and he was cautious and cold towards her. When Rebecca S. returned to the institution yesterday, it was said that she was his mother.

THEY MET AND PLAYED

The meeting between Rebecca S. and her son Nazar S. took place at the Family and Social Services Provincial Directorate with the presence of a pedagogue, allowing the mother and son to spend time playing together. When the child began to establish a close relationship with his mother during this process, he was told that the person he was playing with was named Rebecca and that she was his mother, to which he was surprised and said, "Wasn't Rebecca bad? But she was good."

“WE DON'T SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE, HOW WILL WE UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER?”

During the meeting, when it was expressed to the child that his mother had been looking for him for a long time and wanted to take care of him, he asked, "Are you my mother? Am I going to Germany now? But we don't speak the same language, how will we understand each other if I go to Germany?" It was noted that as the meeting progressed, he addressed Rebecca S. as 'mom' for the first time.

THEY WERE RECORDED AT THE FORENSIC MEDICINE INSTITUTE FOR DNA TESTING

Meanwhile, the mother and son were recorded by a DHA reporter while they were at the Forensic Medicine Institution Bursa Group Presidency to give blood samples for DNA testing. Nazar S., who was seen for the first time after being rescued from the dilapidated house, was brought to the institution with a pedagogue and police, and his cheerful demeanor drew attention. Rebecca S. also came to the Forensic Medicine with a consulate official and her lawyer. After giving blood samples, the mother and son exited the institution separately, appearing on camera.

THE COURT WILL DECIDE

If the DNA test confirms that Rebecca S. is the mother of Nazar S., the court will decide on the child's future based on an examination and research conducted in consideration of the child's best interests, taking into account the Social Investigation Report (SIR) to be prepared by the Family and Social Services Provincial Directorate, a report containing the investigation of the environment he stayed in, and the opinions of experts and pedagogues.

REPORTS WILL BE CONSIDERED

Actions will be taken based on the court's decision regarding the child, who is a German citizen, in accordance with international agreements to which Turkey is a party. Accordingly, if it is decided that Nazar S. will be sent to Germany, he will be handed over to the German state, and if it is decided that he will stay in Turkey, there is a possibility of state protection. If the child is handed over to the German authorities, whether he will be given to his mother will be determined based on evaluations in Germany. The court will make its decision in light of the reports to be prepared based on examinations and expert opinions conducted in both countries.
