One of the most important agricultural products of Aydın, figs attract great interest worldwide. As a result of long-standing efforts to increase fig consumption and enhance the city's brand value, 'fig döner,' which was first produced in Turkey 25 years ago, is receiving significant attention from the public.
In Aydın, which is a leader in fig production worldwide, many innovative products are being developed to ensure the use of figs in different areas.
NOT MEAT, FIG DONER
The geographically marked Aydın fig, evaluated in a wide range from fig chips to fig cologne, contributes to the local economy, while a company's "Fig Doner," created as a result of R&D studies 25 years ago, draws attention with both its appearance and taste.
"IT WAS VERY LOVED"
The company's Regional Manager Hasan Hüseyin Yörük stated, "We use our fig, which is the symbol of Aydın, in many production departments and lines. We are working on 35 different types of products related to figs. In 2000, we received the Turkey Development Award along with fig doner. As a result of our R&D studies titled 'How can we make our figs more loved by the younger generations and our children, and how can we increase consumption?' we started the first fig doner production in Turkey, and it was very loved."
"THERE ARE MANY VARIETIES"
Yörük continued his remarks as follows: "Despite being 25 years old, it is still a product that our customers inquire about. We offer our figs, including walnut fig, tahini fig, chocolate fig, fig dragees, Aydın Zeybekli figs in metal boxes, and many more fig varieties in our stores."
