Sirri Süreyya Önder was taken to Florence Nightingale Hospital in Şişli on the night of April 15 due to a rupture of the aorta. After more than 12 hours of surgery, Önder was placed in the hospital's intensive care unit, where his treatment continues. While Önder has not yet regained consciousness, his doctor, Prof. Dr. Ertan Sağbaş, the Head of the Cardiovascular Surgery Department at Florence Nightingale Hospital, provided information about his current condition.
"HE IS NOT RECEIVING ANY SEDATIVE BUT IS NOT AWAKENING"
Sağbaş stated that they are not giving Önder any sedative medication at the moment, saying, "He hasn't been receiving any sedative for days, but he is not waking up. What is the reason for this? Edema. Hopefully, it is edema. He may have also been without oxygen. We call it anoxic brain. That could also happen during resuscitation. We cannot name it right now. We cannot say that this is exactly what is happening in his brain at the moment. In fact, neurologists cannot say," he said.
"ALTHOUGH THE CHANCE OF SURVIVAL IS WEAK, WE STILL HAVE HOPE"
Sağbaş described Önder's current health condition as a 'miracle', stating, "We are also pursuing a miracle. We are trying to make this miracle happen. We need to be very balanced. Our hope continues. Although the chance of survival is weak, we still have hope," he expressed.
