In operations targeting motorcycle crime gangs in Istanbul, 24 individuals were arrested who were found to be preparing an attack on the Polat couple's business. During the raids, weapons and ammunition resembling an arsenal were seized.
In operations targeting motorcycle crime gangs and individuals displaying weapons on social media in Istanbul, 24 people were arrested. It was determined that the gang was preparing to attack the beauty center owned by Dilan Polat, who was released after being arrested in recent months, and her husband Engin Polat.
SIMULTANEOUS RAIDS IN 7 DISTRICTS
Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Istanbul Police Department's Organized Crime Fighting Branch, operations were conducted between August 15-26 in Bağcılar, Arnavutköy, Ataşehir, Büyükçekmece, Esenyurt, Üsküdar, and Eyüpsultan. In the raids, which also involved special operations teams, 24 suspects, who were alleged to be involved in 8 separate actions to date, were detained.
PLAN TO ATTACK THE POLATS' BUSINESS
The investigation revealed that gang members were preparing to attack the business owned by the Polat couple. The beauty center, which has been in the news many times before, was saved from a possible attack this time with the tracking of security forces.
ARMORY FOUND IN THE OPERATION
During the searches conducted at the addresses, 98 handguns, an airsoft rifle resembling a long-barreled weapon, 1 shotgun, 689 handgun mechanisms, 1 stolen motorcycle, 42 bullets of different sizes, a fill-drain canister, as well as a vice, grinder, and press machine used in weapon assembly were seized.
11 PEOPLE ARRESTED
Of the suspects caught, 2 were released, while judicial control measures were applied to 5 individuals. 11 suspects were arrested and sent to prison. The investigation regarding 6 individuals is ongoing.
