With the detention of Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Saraçhane rallies began to be organized, and they continued after İmamoğlu's arrest.
ÖZGÜR ÖZEL GIVES A WARNING TO THE MEDIA
In the rally, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel targeted media outlets that did not broadcast the rallies. Özel stated, "On such a day, while the numbers to be announced shortly are being discussed, we are recording anyone who does not broadcast this," and added, "It is clear where the pro-government media gets its support."
Özel also said, "However, the mainstream media, which takes fifty percent of its advertisements from us, will sell the product to us but serve the palace. No way! From this night on, those who produce here but serve the Palace, whatever job they do, if they sell cars, the person who buys that car is a coward. You will not see this square, but you will sell food to this square. No way! A boycott for those who do not see this square. Those sweet days are over, my dear. You will either see us or you will see the bottom. What did you think of Saraçhane, Istanbul University, Boğaziçililer, and the CHP founded by Atatürk?" he said.
"TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF A SEPARATION"
In his statements, Özel said, "In my political life, I am experiencing speaking in the same place without sleeping. We haven't slept since yesterday. We stand behind our President Ekrem. You are writing a history here. Despite the closure of roads and bridges, you come here in rebellion against the one-man regime," and added, "Today can actually be seen as a day of sadness, the first day of a separation. They took our President Ekrem, our elder brother, our brother, our uncle from us. We are in rebellion. However, there is no sadness in this square, there is faith; there is no grief, there is hope. Because there are millions who raise this hope. We trust only and only you for the future of Turkey with President Ekrem," he said.
