A smuggling and organized crime investigation was initiated by the Sakarya Provincial Police Department's Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch against firearms and ammunition smuggling.
A HOUSE TURNED INTO A GUN WORKSHOP
As a result of technical and physical surveillance, it was determined that a house had been converted into a workshop for gun repair and maintenance, that the barrels of blank-firing pistols had been opened to convert them into real firearms, and that illegal arms trade was being conducted.
PEN-SHAPED WEAPONS SEIZED
Police teams conducted operations at addresses belonging to suspects in the Erenler district. Simultaneous raids were carried out on the house converted into a workshop and two addresses, where pen-shaped weapons hidden inside umbrellas and similar devices, 6 unlicensed pistols of foreign origin, 3 unlicensed shotguns, and 141 rounds of 7.65 mm, 75 rounds of 9x19 mm, and 52 rounds of 6.35 mm caliber ammunition were seized.
3 PEOPLE DETAINED
Additionally, in police operations, a specially prepared stash designed to look like a book, 8 magazines, 62 cartridges, numerous tools used in weapon manufacturing, and equipment used to convert blank-firing pistols into real firearms were confiscated, while 3 suspects were detained.
