HEALTH CONDITION SUDDENLY WORSENED
In a statement made by the Vatican, it was reported that Pope Francis experienced a bronchospasm crisis today, leading to a sudden deterioration in his respiratory condition and vomiting. It was stated that Pope Francis responded well to the intervention. The statement said, "Pope Francis was immediately subjected to bronchoaspiration and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, which responded well to gas exchange, was initiated."
Pope Francis was hospitalized at Gemelli Hospital on February 14 after experiencing difficulty breathing, and he was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia.
WHAT IS BRONCHOSPASM?
Bronchospasm is, in short, the contraction of the muscles surrounding the airways (bronchi) in the lungs. There are muscle bands surrounding a person's airways.
