According to the decision numbered 10113 published in the Official Gazette, the Crude Oil Pipeline Agreement signed between Turkey and Iraq in 1973 will terminate the validity of existing agreements, protocols, and additional documents as of July 27, 2026.
LAST EXTENDED IN 2010
This agreement, initially signed in 1973, has been updated over the years with various protocols and was last extended for 15 years in 2010.
The decision published in the Official Gazette included the following statements:
"The Crude Oil Pipeline Agreement between Turkey and Iraq dated August 27, 1973, approved by the Council of Ministers Decision numbered 7/9843 dated 22/4/1975, the VI. Section and annexed Letters of the Memorandum of Understanding approved by the Council of Ministers Decision numbered 7/12745 dated 10/10/1976, the Additional Agreement to the Crude Oil Pipeline Agreement approved by the Council of Ministers Decision numbered 86/10556 dated 11/4/1986, and the Amendment Agreement regarding the amendment of the Crude Oil Pipeline Agreement dated August 27, 1973, and the Related Agreements, Protocols, Meeting Minutes, and Annexes between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of Iraq approved by the Council of Ministers Decision numbered 2011/1705 dated 15/4/2011 will be terminated as of July 27, 2026, in accordance with the third article of the Presidential Decree numbered 9."
