The 39-year-old broadcaster Esen Gök, who was found dead in her home in Bakırköy, Istanbul, has been determined to have committed suicide. It has been revealed that Gök left a suicide note to her sister saying, "Sister, you are not to blame, you never did anything wrong. I have always looked for excuses," and that she bid farewell to her viewers in her last broadcast.

After the relatives of Esen Gök, Turkey's first female race commentator, reported her missing to the police, teams entered her home in Bakırköy Osmaniye Neighborhood with the help of a locksmith and found Gök's body hanging from a natural gas pipe with a sheet. The initial examination revealed that the door of the house was locked from the inside, the key was found in the door, and there were no signs of forced entry. The examination conducted by the Forensic Medicine Institution determined that Esen Gök had taken her own life.

It was learned that a note was found in the house, believed to have been written by Esen Gök, stating, "Sister, you are not responsible, you never did anything wrong. I always looked for excuses."

SAID SHE TOOK A WEEK OFF IN HER LAST BROADCAST

On the other hand, it was revealed that in her last broadcast on Tay TV on Friday, July 11, Esen Gök stated that she was taking a week of annual leave, saying, "I ask for a week's permission from you. 'Güne Bakış from the Hippodrome' will of course be on screen next Monday."

In a post made on Tay TV's social media accounts, it was stated, "There are no words to describe our pain! We learned with deep sadness the news of the passing of Esen Gök, Turkey's first female race commentator, our colleague, and the host of our program 'Güne Bakış from the Hippodrome.' We extend our condolences to her family, the horse racing community, her relatives, and her loved ones."

HER FUNERAL WILL BE HELD IN NAZİLLİ

Gök's body was received by her family from the Forensic Medicine Institution. It was learned that her funeral would be held after the noon prayer at Yavuz Selim Mosque in Zafer Neighborhood, Nazilli, Aydın, and she would be buried in Eğriboyun Cemetery.
