The anti-Trump protests that began in New York continue with the participation of millions of people across the country. The protests aim to challenge Trump's 'authoritarianism,' while National Guard units are on standby in some states.
The first of more than 2,500 protests planned against U.S. President Donald Trump began in New York. The organizers of the "No Kings" protests stated that millions of people are expected to participate in the actions across the country.
NATIONAL GUARDS ARE READY
Trump's allies accused the protesters of being linked to the far-left Antifa movement without providing any evidence. Republican governors in many states of the U.S. have decided to put National Guard units on standby.
The governors of Texas and Virginia have officially called their National Guard units to duty, but it is still unclear how visible the military presence will be. The protests in New York began at 11:00 AM local time and are expected to continue throughout the day across the country.
SANDERS WILL BE A SPEAKER
A large demonstration will also be held in Washington DC, where Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is expected to be the main speaker.
Los Angeles will also be one of the focal points of the protests. Organizers state that the actions aim to challenge Trump's "authoritarianism."
In a statement on their websites, it is said, "The President thinks of his administration as absolute. However, there are no kings in America; we will not back down against chaos, corruption, and oppression." In Europe, people have also taken to the streets in London, Berlin, Madrid, and Rome to support American protesters.
WHAT DOES TRUMP SAY?
In an interview scheduled to be published on Fox News on Sunday, but a short part of which was released on Saturday, Trump spoke about the upcoming protests.
In the trailer of the interview, Trump said, "A king! This is not a joke," and continued, "You know, they call me a king. I am not a king."
