In an operation targeting counterfeit drug production in Istanbul, a raid was conducted on a workshop in Bayrampaşa. As a result of technical and physical surveillance by police teams, searches at the identified address led to the seizure of 1.5 million counterfeit pills and raw materials capable of producing approximately 10 million pills. One of the two suspects taken into custody was arrested.
In operations targeting counterfeit drug production in Istanbul, millions of pills were seized during a raid on a workshop in Bayrampaşa. Of the two suspects detained in the operation, one was arrested while the other was released.
WORKSHOP IDENTIFIED
Teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Anti-Smuggling Crimes Branch Directorate, as part of their efforts to prevent drug smuggling and counterfeit drug production, determined that drugs produced at an address in Bayrampaşa were being released to the market. Following technical and physical surveillance, an operation was conducted at the address.
1.5 MILLION PILLS SEIZED
During searches of the workshop, 1.5 million pills, determined to have been produced using illegal chemical substances, were seized. Additionally, a quantity of raw material sufficient to produce approximately 10 million pills was found.
1 SUSPECT ARRESTED
Of the two suspects detained as part of the operation, one was released after procedures at the police station. The other suspect was brought before a court and, under Article 5607 of the Anti-Smuggling Law for the crime of "producing or selling drugs in a manner that endangers people's lives and health," was arrested and sent to prison.
Authorities stated that the seized products were prevented from reaching the market, and it was learned that the investigation into the incident is continuing in multiple directions.
