Samsunspor issued a statement following their defeat to Fenerbahçe, conceding a goal in the last seconds. In their statement, the Black Sea team called on the Turkish Football Federation, saying, "We invite the Turkish Football Federation to conduct the necessary investigations regarding the referee decisions that occurred during the match and the incidents that took place in the stands, and to take the necessary steps against those responsible."
In the 25th week match of the Trendyol Super League, Samsunspor, which left the field defeated despite taking the lead twice, issued a statement following the match against Fenerbahçe.
CALL FROM SAMSUNSPOR TO TFF
In Samsunspor's statement, it was said, "We invite the Turkish Football Federation to conduct the necessary investigations regarding both the referee decisions that occurred during the match and the incidents that took place in the stands, and to take the necessary steps against those responsible."
The full statement is as follows:
"Unfortunately, once again, controversial referee decisions overshadowed a night that was expected to be enjoyable for football; the great effort and struggle our players displayed on the field have been overlooked.
In the early stages of the match, the failure to penalize Fenerbahçe player Matteo Guendouzi's direct red card offense on our player's ankle with any card was the first significant decision that affected the course of the match.
In another incident, the failure to penalize Fenerbahçe player Jayden Oosterwolde's action of choking our player and bringing him down to the ground with any card has raised significant questions in the public eye.
Unfortunately, the disregard for such interventions in Turkish football or the lack of adequate punishment seriously harms the sense of justice in football. The offside discussions in the public regarding the goals scored by the opposing team are another topic that needs to be evaluated.
Moreover, in the final minutes of the match, heavy insults were directed at the area where our Club President Mr. Yüksel Yıldırım was located by some rival fans, there were attempts of assault, and foreign objects intended to cause injury were thrown. The fact that such behaviors were carried out by individual persons does not diminish the seriousness of the incidents. It is of great importance that necessary actions are taken against those responsible for these actions, which are contrary to the spirit of football and sports ethics.
As the Samsunspor Community, we would like to express our great discomfort with the fact that similar discussions occur every season and that the effort put forth on the field is overshadowed in this way.
Of course, winning is part of the nature of football, and so is losing. However, it is concerning for Turkish football that similar discussions keep coming up in domestic football while similar issues are not experienced in referee management in European cups.
For this reason, we invite the Turkish Football Federation to conduct the necessary investigations regarding both the referee decisions that occurred during the match and the incidents that took place in the stands, and to take the necessary steps against those responsible."
