The Institute of Educational Policy in Greece added a new text created by artificial intelligence, altering the text about the Intifada and the lives of Palestinian children from the 3rd grade Greek grammar book for middle school. It was announced that the change was made in response to the discomfort expressed by the Central Jewish Council of Greece.

The text describing the lives of Palestinian children living under Israeli occupation and the peaceful uprising movement Intifada, found in school books in Greece, has been altered.

SECTION ABOUT PALESTINIAN CHILDREN REMOVED FROM SCHOOL BOOKS IN GREECE

According to a report by the Independent Balkan News Agency (IBNA), the Greek Institute of Educational Policy (IEP) has changed the text in the 3rd grade Greek grammar book that describes the Intifada of 1987 and the lives of Palestinian children under Israeli occupation.

Accordingly, in place of the aforementioned text, a text created by artificial intelligence, with unspecified geography and titled "children can grow up differently," has been added.

REMOVED DUE TO DISCOMFORT EXPRESSED BY THE JEWISH COUNCIL

Konstantinos Vlasis, the Deputy Minister of Education, Religion, and Sports of Greece, stated in a speech in parliament that the decision was made after the Central Jewish Council of Greece communicated its "discomfort" regarding this text to the Ministry.

Vlasis argued that the text was changed in the name of "balance and neutrality."

The Arabic word "Intifada" refers to a civil and peaceful uprising against the Israeli occupation and massacres that have been ongoing since 1948; however, Israel and pro-Israel lobbies attempt to distort the concept of Intifada, portraying it as a call for terrorism and violence, as well as anti-Semitism.
