Due to heavy snowfall affecting many provinces in Turkey, schools have been closed. Schools in Bolu, Batman, Siirt, and Şırnak have been closed due to the snowfall that started on December 28 and is still ongoing. The governorships announced that pregnant and disabled personnel, as well as female staff with children in daycare and kindergarten, will be considered on administrative leave.
The snowfall affecting Turkey has led to school closures in many provinces. Due to the continuation of the snowfall that started on December 28, announcements regarding holidays for tomorrow (December 30) have begun to come from some provincial governorships.
BOLU
Due to the ongoing heavy snowfall and icing throughout Bolu, education has been suspended tomorrow as well.
In a statement from the Bolu Governorship, it was reported that education and training would be suspended on Tuesday, December 30, in all official and private educational institutions (including rehabilitation centers, motor vehicle driving courses, and Quran courses).
ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE FOR PUBLIC PERSONNEL
In the statement, it was noted that pregnant and disabled personnel working in public institutions in Bolu, as well as female personnel whose children attend daycare, kindergarten, and special education institutions, would be considered on administrative leave on the same day. The situation of personnel working in units providing services on a 24-hour basis, especially in health and security units, will be evaluated by the relevant unit managers.
BATMAN
The Batman Governorship announced that schools would be closed on Tuesday.
In a statement from the Batman Governorship, it was stated, "Due to the ongoing snowfall across our province, and the expectation of further drops in air temperatures from the night hours, along with meteorological assessments indicating an increased risk of icing and frost, education and training in all official and private educational institutions in Batman province will be suspended for 1 day on Tuesday, December 30. Additionally, public personnel who are disabled, have chronic illnesses, or are pregnant will also be considered on administrative leave on the same day. We kindly ask our citizens to be careful and take precautions against icing, frost, and adverse weather conditions."
SİİRT
The Siirt Governorship reported that measures have been taken to ensure the safety of citizens and students due to the heavy snowfall, icing, and adverse weather conditions affecting the province. In the statement, it was mentioned, "In this context, education will be suspended for 1 day on Tuesday, December 30, in all official and private formal and non-formal educational institutions, as well as private daycare centers, daytime care homes, and rehabilitation centers across our province.
Due to the adverse weather conditions, heavy snowfall in the city center of Siirt, and to ensure traffic safety, the use of all types of motorcycle vehicles and couriers in the city center is prohibited until further notice. Additionally, female public employees with children attending daycare and kindergarten, as well as disabled, handicapped, and pregnant public personnel will be considered on administrative leave. We strongly request our citizens to be careful and take precautions against icing, frost, and adverse weather conditions, and to avoid using private vehicles unless absolutely necessary."
ŞIRNAK
Due to heavy snowfall and icing, education has been suspended in Şırnak center, Güçlükonak, Uludere, and Beytüşşebap districts.
The Şırnak Governorship announced that education and training have been suspended due to the heavy snowfall and icing affecting the city. According to the statement, there will be no education on the afternoon of Monday, December 29, 2025, and on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in official and private daycare centers, kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, high schools, vocational training centers, non-formal education institutions, private teaching courses, and special education and rehabilitation centers in Şırnak center, Güçlükonak, Uludere, and Beytüşşebap districts. In the İdil district, only village schools and students within the scope of transportation education will have education suspended on the same dates. It was also reported that public employees who are disabled, have severe chronic illnesses, or are pregnant will be considered on administrative leave on the days when education is suspended.
Authorities have warned citizens to be careful and take precautions against adverse weather conditions.
