In the case of the murder of Narin Güran, the aggravated life sentences given to mother Yüksel Güran, uncle Salim Güran, and brother Enes Güran have been upheld by the Court of Cassation and have become final.
The Court of Cassation reviewed the decisions regarding the case of 8-year-old Narin Güran's murder in Diyarbakır, involving her mother Yüksel Güran, uncle Salim Güran, and brother Enes Güran. The Supreme Court upheld the aggravated life sentences imposed by the local court on the three defendants.
THE SENTENCES OF THE MOTHER, BROTHER, AND UNCLE HAVE BECOME FINAL
The lifeless body of Narin Güran, who went missing in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır on August 21, 2024, was found on September 8, 2024. Many individuals were detained as part of the investigation. During the trial process, mother Yüksel Güran, brother Enes Güran, and uncle Salim Güran, who were tried in custody, were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment on December 28, 2024. With the decision of the Court of Cassation, the aggravated life sentences for the mother, uncle, and brother have been upheld.
NEVZAT BAHTİYAR WILL BE RETRIED
As a result of the trial, Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "destroying, concealing, or altering evidence." The cooperating witness Nevzat Bahtiyar will be retried for aiding and abetting murder.
WHAT HAPPENED?
A case was opened against four individuals in the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court regarding the death of Narin Güran, whose body was found hidden in a riverbed on September 8, 2024, on the 19th day of the search after she went missing in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of the Bağlar district on August 21, 2024.
Uncle Salim Güran, who had DNA and hair samples belonging to Narin in his vehicle, along with her mother Yüksel Güran and brother Enes Güran, were identified through security cameras as having transported Narin's lifeless body in a red vehicle. After being detained, their neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar claimed that he did not kill Narin but only concealed her by transporting her to the river. An aggravated life sentence was requested for him for "intentional murder of a child in complicity."
On December 28, 2024, Salim Güran, Enes Güran, and Yüksel Güran were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for this crime, while Nevzat Bahtiyar received a sentence of 4 years and 6 months for "destroying, concealing, or altering evidence."
