The Supreme Court announced its decision regarding the murder of Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found after going missing in Diyarbakır. The Supreme Court upheld the aggravated life sentences given to the uncle, mother, and brother. Nevzat Bahtiyar, who was a confessing witness and received a 4-year and 6-month prison sentence for the crime of "destroying, concealing, or altering evidence," will be retried for the charge of "aiding and abetting murder."

THE SENTENCES OF THE MOTHER, BROTHER, AND UNCLE WERE UPHELD
In the case concerning the death of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found in a sack by the Eğertutmaz Stream 19 days after going missing in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır, mother Yüksel Güran, uncle Salim Güran, and brother Enes Güran were each sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for "intentional murder of a child in complicity." The Supreme Court upheld the aggravated life sentences given to the uncle, mother, and brother in the Narin Güran murder case.
NEVZAT BAHTİYAR TO BE RETRIED FOR "AIDING IN MURDER"
As a result of the trial, Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for "destroying, concealing, or altering evidence." The cooperating witness Nevzat Bahtiyar will be tried for aiding in murder.
HIS LAWYER WITHDREW FROM THE CASE
On the other hand, Nevzat Bahtiyar's lawyer, Ali Eryılmaz, announced that he would no longer defend his client and withdrew from the case.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of the Bağlar district, after going missing on August 21, 2024, the body of Narin Güran was found hidden in the riverbed on September 8, on the 19th day of the search efforts. A case was opened against 4 individuals at the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court regarding the death of Narin Güran.
Uncle Salim Güran, mother Yüksel Güran, and brother Enes Güran, whose vehicle contained DNA and hair samples belonging to Narin, along with their neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar, who was identified by security cameras as having transported Narin's lifeless body in a red vehicle and claimed after being detained that he did not kill Narin but only concealed her by transporting her to the stream, were sought to be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for "intentional murder of a child in complicity."
On December 28, 2024, Salim Güran, Enes Güran, and Yüksel Güran were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for this crime, while Nevzat Bahtiyar received a sentence of 4 years and 6 months for "destroying, concealing, or altering evidence."
