Sean "Diddy" Combs' $1 million bail request was denied by the court. The judge ruled that, based on the violence allegations accepted during the hearings and Combs' past behavior, it was not appropriate for him to be released in the interest of public safety.

The ongoing federal case of American music producer and businessman Sean "Diddy" Combs has seen his $1 million bail proposal rejected by the court. Judge Arun Subramaniam denied the defendant's request for freedom, citing Combs' past violent behavior and the defense team's explicit acknowledgment of this violence during the hearing.

Combs' defense team had indicated their willingness to surrender the music producer's passport, wear an ankle monitor, and limit his travel in the proposed bail package. However, the judge stated that this was not sufficient to ensure community safety. Following the decision, it was observed that Combs' facial expression changed, and his morale significantly deteriorated. The famous producer will continue to remain in federal custody for now. A tentative date of October 3 has been set for the sentencing hearing, while a hearing to decide on the defense team's request to advance this date will take place on July 8.

The court also considered security camera footage showing the violence Combs inflicted on singer Cassandra "Cassie" Ventura at the InterContinental Hotel in 2016. The judge emphasized that Combs' tendency towards violence is not limited to the past; incidents following police raids at properties in Beverly Hills and Miami have reinforced this picture. Particularly, new allegations that emerged regarding another individual referred to as "Jane" after searches at Combs' homes in June 2024 also influenced the judge's decision. Subramaniam noted that this situation highlighted the defendant's indifference to the law and his inclination towards violence.

WHICH CHARGES WERE DISMISSED AND WHICH WERE FOUND GUILTY?

The jury has reached a decision in the ongoing case against Sean "Diddy" Combs. Accordingly, Combs was acquitted of some serious charges while being found guilty of two separate offenses. The jury acquitted Combs of racketeering conspiracy and two separate sexual assault cases (one involving his ex-girlfriend Cassandra Ventura and the other involving an unidentified woman). This decision is considered a critical turning point in the trial process, especially since the "racketeering" charge carries a life sentence. However, the jury found Combs guilty of two separate acts of transporting individuals for prostitution. Each of these offenses carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison. Additionally, the absence of a minimum sentencing requirement for these charges also raises the possibility of the court imposing a shorter prison sentence.

DIDDY'S "DIRTY PAST"

Combs, known by the nicknames "Puff Daddy" and "Diddy," was arrested on September 16, 2024, on charges of sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, unlawful restraint, arson, drug possession, bribery, and obstruction of justice.

The 14-page indictment shared with the public by the court stated that Combs often hosted parties called "Freak Offs," which lasted for days and were usually recorded, at his homes, and that he forced individuals who were compelled to attend these parties to engage in sexual acts.

The indictment indicated that Combs resorted to methods such as "threatening to control their careers by using his influence, and committing economic, psychological, verbal, and physical violence" against the victims. It was reported that drugs were seized during searches conducted at the rapper's homes. The indictment also noted that Combs offered bribes to witnesses and victims to remain silent or to testify falsely. Combs has denied all charges against him in the federal court in Manhattan. If found guilty, Combs could face a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison.
