The latest victim of phone scammers was a well-known figure. Serenad Bağcan, the musician and niece of Selda Bağcan, was called by individuals posing as bank officials; Bağcan, who was convinced in a short time, lost approximately 5 million TL to the scammers.
Famous musician Serenad Bağcan became the target of scammers who posed as bank employees and lost approximately 5 million TL. After the incident, Bağcan filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office.
PHONE SCAM TRAP
The scammers called Bağcan, claiming to be from the bank's headquarters. They panicked her by saying there were suspicious transactions in her account and that an unauthorized loan application had been made in her name.
"TRANSFERRING TO A SAFE ACCOUNT" SCAM
Bağcan was convinced by the scammers that the money needed to be transferred to a "safe account for security reasons." The suspects managed to gain trust because they were familiar with details of the artist's personal information.
Realizing she had been scammed after completing the transactions, Bağcan immediately went to the prosecutor's office to file a complaint. The artist wanted an investigation into how the scammers were able to access her personal information so easily.
WHO IS SERENAD BAĞCAN?
Born in 1966 in Ankara, Serenad Bağcan comes from a musical family. One of Turkey's prominent female vocalists, Bağcan started music with a piano gifted by her aunt Selda Bağcan. She was a soloist for many years in the Ankara Children's Choir and the State Polyphonic Choir, and since 2011, she has participated in many successful projects with Fazıl Say, releasing her first solo album in 2019.
