In the indictment prepared against Muhittin Böcek, allegations were made that between 50-100 million TL was paid to the CHP General Headquarters during Böcek's candidacy process. It was claimed in the suspect's statements in the file that the money was transferred under the name of "donation" or through different means.

The statements involved in the corruption investigation against Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek have brought to light allegations of payments amounting to "50-100 million TL" related to the re-nomination process.

INVESTIGATION CONTINUES IN ANTALYA

The investigation against Muhittin Böcek was sent to the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office after statements were taken at the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, with a decision of lack of jurisdiction. The indictment prepared in Antalya was accepted by the court, and the trial process has begun.

In the case where hearings began as of March 9, allegations were included in the indictment that Böcek made various payments in connection with his re-nomination process.

ALLEGATION OF "MILLIONS OF LIRA PAID FOR CANDIDACY"

In the statements of four separate suspects in the case, it was stated that Muhittin Böcek made high-value payments to the CHP Headquarters in order to be re-nominated.

It was claimed in the statements that the process was largely conducted through Böcek's son, Gökhan Böcek. Witnesses indicated that amounts ranging from 50 to 100 million TL were discussed to have been transferred under the name of "donation" or through various means.

Some statements claimed that money was transported by road, while others alleged that millions of dollars collected from tenders and businessmen were sent to the headquarters.

STATEMENTS ENTERED THE FILE

In one of the statements included in the indictment, it was reported that Gökhan Böcek told his close circle that they made a payment of around 50 million TL for his father's nomination. The same statement included evaluations indicating that the uncertainty of the process remained.

Gökhan Böcek's close friend Furkan Solak stated, "Gökhan Böcek came to me in the last months of 2023. He was very angry and unhappy. I asked him why he was so angry and unhappy. He said that they sent money under the name of a donation of 50 million TL to the CHP Headquarters for his father's nomination, but the Chairman Özgür Özel announced all the mayoral candidates, except for ours; therefore, he was in a state of uncertainty and that was why he was angry." This statement was also included in the indictment.

Another statement in the indictment belongs to suspect Serkan Çavdar. Çavdar stated the following in his statement:

"Gökhan Böcek said that before the local elections in January 2024, they were left as the last candidates for the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Presidency, along with Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek and Muratpaşa Mayor Ümit Uysal, and that the amount of money collected from tenders and businessmen for Muhittin Böcek's candidacy, which he did not disclose, was sent to the CHP Headquarters, but he did not mention how and in what way this money was sent."

Another suspect stated that it was discussed that high-value amounts collected from businessmen and tenders during the election process were sent to the headquarters.

Additionally, the file included an allegation that a meeting room at the CHP Headquarters was organized for renovation and furnishing by Gökhan Böcek.

LEGAL PROCESS CONTINUES

While the allegations that have come to the agenda continue to be the subject of the legal process, the accuracy of the statements included in the file will be evaluated during the court process.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek stated that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel raised the asset allegations against him to divert attention from the İmamoğlu and Böcek cases. Highlighting the Muhittin Böcek case, Akın Gürlek said, "Muhittin Böcek stops at a gas station in Manisa on January 15, 2024. Böcek had a situation of being a whistleblower. Özgür Özel had a situation of asking for money to be a candidate. Özgür Özel wants to cover this up and the corruption case of the century. I have four properties. One is in Tuzla. It is not worth 30 million TL as he said. It is worth 3-4 million TL. All lies. We will file a lawsuit anyway. Özgür Özel's aim is to cover up the corruption case of the century and Muhittin Böcek. There is an allegation that he asked for money from Muhittin Böcek to be a candidate. Muhittin Böcek will explain this anyway. But there is a time for it." he said.
