According to the January data from TÜİK, housing sales to foreigners in Turkey decreased by 20.8% compared to the same month last year, reaching 1,306. The countries that purchased the most housing were Russia, Iran, and Ukraine, in that order.
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced the housing and workplace sales statistics for January. Accordingly, the number of first-hand houses sold in Turkey decreased by 2.1% in January compared to the same month last year, falling to 34,069, while the number of second-hand houses decreased by 5.9% to 77,411. Thus, the total number of houses sold last month was calculated as 111,480, a decrease of 4.7% compared to the same month of 2025. The share of first-hand house sales in total house sales was 30.6%, while the share of second-hand house sales was 69.4%.
MORTGAGED SALES INCREASED
The mortgaged house sales in Turkey increased by 15.7% in January compared to the same month last year, reaching 20,263.
Other house sales, on the other hand, decreased by 8.3% during the same period, totaling 91,217. The share of mortgaged sales in total house sales was 18.2%, while the share of other sales was 81.8%.
In seasonally and calendar-adjusted series, first-hand house sales increased by 4.2% compared to the same month of 2025, while second-hand house sales decreased by 0.1%.

1,306 HOUSES SOLD TO FOREIGNERS
House sales to foreigners decreased by 20.8% in January compared to the same month last year, totaling 1,306. The share of house sales to foreigners in total house sales in January was 1.2%.
RUSSIAN CITIZENS MADE THE MOST PURCHASES
Last month, the highest number of house sales by country of nationality was made to Russian citizens with 219, followed by Iranian citizens with 118 and Ukrainian citizens with 77.
