24-year-old Rachel Marie Warner, who lives in Las Vegas, USA, is accused of drugging a man she met at a nightclub in Miami during her vacation and stealing his luxury Rolex watch. The moments when Warner fled the hotel barefoot were captured by the hotel's security cameras.
The incident occurred on May 8 at the luxurious East Hotel in the Brickell area of Miami. Warner met a man at a popular rooftop bar called "Sugar" in the evening. The two headed to the hotel room together and drank alcohol. However, according to the man's statement, he remembers nothing after consuming the drink prepared by Warner. When he woke up in the morning, he realized that both Warner and his Rolex watch, worth $18,000, were missing.
In the footage captured by security cameras, Warner is seen running down the hotel corridor with her shoes in hand. Shortly after, another camera recorded her walking away on the street, having put her shoes back on. Following the complaint, Warner was arrested by the police on the same day.
The investigation revealed that Warner had previously targeted at least two other men using similar methods. In March, a man reported that he invited Warner to his home and, when he briefly went to the bathroom, his Rolex watch from the safe was stolen. Another incident occurred on New Year's Eve. A man who was partying with Warner stated that when he woke up in the morning, jewelry, a watch, and cash worth more than $60,000 were missing.
The police found striking messages on Warner's phone during their investigation. One of them reportedly said, "I gave him all the drops, but he still didn't sleep." This message is believed to be evidence that drugs were added to the victims' drinks. Additionally, it was reported that the liquid in two eye drop bottles found in Warner's bag was white, unlike regular eye drops, and was examined for containing drugs.
Rachel Warner has been charged with robbery, grand theft, and possession of a controlled substance in connection with the assault. Warner is currently being held in Miami-Dade County Jail and is not allowed to be released on bail. The police are investigating whether Warner acted alone or in conjunction with a criminal gang.
