Four-year-old Mihra, who was taken to the hospital by her family due to complaints of diarrhea and vomiting, was admitted to intensive care after her heart stopped following an allegation of a wrong injection. The little girl, who entered the hospital walking, has been fighting for her life for about 9 months, now connected to machines and a bed.
The incident occurred on March 1, 2024, at Aksaray Training and Research Hospital. Mihra, who had complaints of diarrhea and vomiting, was taken to the hospital by her family. Mihra was admitted to the pediatric ward by doctors and received treatment for 5 days. According to claims, the little girl’s condition suddenly worsened during an intervention before her discharge, which was decided on March 5.
RESUSCITATED WITH CHEST COMPRESSION
According to the family's claim, Mihra's heart stopped while a nurse was injecting medication into her vein from her arm. After the family noticed the situation and called for help, Mihra was resuscitated with chest compressions and urgently taken to intensive care.
It was reported that Mihra, who clung to life after the intensive care process, suffered severe damage due to insufficient oxygen reaching her brain. The little girl was discharged after her treatment, but since that day, she has been living in a state of unconsciousness, unable to eat, speak, or walk.
"SHE ENTERED THE HOSPITAL WALKING AND CAME OUT BEDRIDDEN"
Barış Bektaş (37), the father recounting the events, stated that his daughter was completely healthy before the incident. Bektaş said,
"My child was cheerful, running, playing, and smiling. The doctor came in the morning and said she would be discharged. Then the nurse entered the room. Saying 'the vein is blocked,' she injected the medication directly. When the medication was halfway through, my child's heart stopped. Oxygen did not reach her brain."
Bektaş also noted that the doctor reported the situation as a judicial case after the incident, stating, "We have been in this condition for 7-8 months. My child is unconscious. She is living connected to pulse and respiratory devices."
"WE TRUST IN JUSTICE"
Father Bektaş expressed that they are waiting for justice to be served, saying, "We trust in justice. Her peers are playing in the park, going to school. I pray, 'I wish my daughter would ask me for something again one day, so I could go to the park with her again.' Hopefully, justice will be served."
It was learned that the judicial process regarding the incident is ongoing.
