On the evening of November 5, 2024, at 20:30, in an incident that took place on Cumhuriyet Street in Rize, Rize Region Assistant Referee I.E. collapsed to the ground after being struck by unidentified individuals with a brutal and merciless blow.

THEY BROKE HIS NOSE AND CRACKED HIS SKULL

The young referee I.E. was ambushed by football thugs who first rained down punches and then kicks. This ugly attack occurred after tensions that arose during an amateur match that the referee officiated two days prior. Although I.E. remained silent that day, he became a victim of a full-fledged "off-field revenge" on Tuesday evening after being followed home by fans and attacked with punches on his vehicle.

The referee, who parked his car across from Memişağa Park, was ambushed by two Football Terrorists who were lurking behind him, completely unaware of what was about to happen as he was about to get out of his car.

In this attack, the young referee I.E. was assaulted while on the ground, and they inflicted serious harm on him, who is considered a public servant due to his duty. After a few minutes of this merciless assault, the attackers jumped into their vehicles and quickly fled the scene, evading law enforcement. Referee I.E. was taken to the hospital with the help of bystanders and was discharged after being kept under observation for four hours.

Following this disgraceful attack, the football community rose up. According to Law No. 6222, referees are considered public servants due to their duties on the field, and authorities have taken action to apprehend the perpetrators of this unlawful foul. While the safety of referees, who are tasked with ensuring justice in football, is being questioned, everyone is calling for justice, saying, "This attack must not go unpunished!"
