Hatice Foster, the mother of Defne Joy Foster, who passed away 15 years ago, made shocking claims regarding her daughter's death. She detailed the events of the night and the individuals she suspects for the first time.
Hatice Foster, the mother of Defne Joy Foster, who passed away in 2011, spoke to Tuğba Kalçık from Sabah Newspaper. Foster stated that her daughter was at Mehmet Altan's house on the night of the incident and that Tolga Karel was also there, saying, "My daughter was the first person in Turkey to call this terrorist organization FETÖ. FETÖ may have given orders and even had my daughter killed. After Defne's death, Kerem moved to America. Witness Tolga Karel also hurriedly settled in America. This situation seems very interesting to me," she said.
Hatice Foster expressed her belief that her daughter's death was not due to the use of asthma medication and alcohol, as stated in official statements:
I do not live in Istanbul. My daughter was in Istanbul. I saw the news of my daughter's death. That night, they first went to Taksim with her husband. Then two of her female friends called Defne to French Street. Her husband did not come, and Defne went alone to her friends. Later that night, Tolga Karel also went to Kerem Altan's place. So, Tolga Karel was also at Kerem's house that night. Defne has allergic asthma. She uses medication for it. I have the same condition. She used this medication along with alcohol that night.
It was said that there was a reaction when alcohol was taken with the medication, but my daughter and I had used it with alcohol several times. Nothing had happened. The man named Kerem Altan caused my daughter's death. I think so. The reaction thing is a lie; they said it to cover it up. My daughter was the first person to mention this terrorist organization as FETÖ in Turkey shortly before her death. I think they may have even given orders to have my daughter killed.
Hatice Foster, recalling that her daughter was one of the first people to bring up the FETÖ terrorist organization in Turkey, continued her claims:
After Defne's death, Kerem moved to America. Because he is the son of Ahmet Altan, FETÖ covered up my daughter's death. Witness Tolga Karel also hurriedly moved to America. This situation seems very interesting to me. I lost my daughter; neither Ahmet Altan nor his son even said, 'May you rest in peace.' There is a great negligence in my daughter's death. Supposedly, he was looking for a doctor on the streets. If he had called 112, my daughter would have been saved. They completely tried to cover up my daughter's death. But every day I live, I say, 'May God make them suffer too.' I heard that Kerem already went to America. My daughter only used alcohol; she never used drugs.
