Iran announced that it is expecting FIFA guarantees for its participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the USA. Iranian Minister of Sports and Youth Ahmad Donyamali stated, "Our request to FIFA to play our matches in the USA in Mexico remains valid. However, we have not yet received a response. If accepted, we will agree to participate in the World Cup as Iran."

Donyamali, in a statement regarding Iran's negotiations with FIFA to play its 2026 FIFA World Cup matches in Mexico, said, "Our request to FIFA to play our matches in the USA in Mexico remains valid. However, we have not yet received a response. If accepted, we will agree to participate in the World Cup as Iran."

''THE FINAL DECISION WILL BE MADE BY OUR GOVERNMENT''

Stating that Iranian national football players are continuing their preparations for the World Cup, Donyamali said, "As the Minister of Sports, we will keep the Iranian Football Federation and the football team ready for the World Cup. However, the final decision will be made by our government."

''SECURITY MUST BE ENSURED IN THE RELEVANT COUNTRY ACCORDING TO FIFA'S RELEVANT REGULATIONS''

Criticizing U.S. President Donald Trump's warning that it would not be safe for the Iranian National Team to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Donyamali noted:

"Trump is making very contradictory statements; what he says is very inconsistent. He is making morally and ethically unbalanced remarks. In this situation, security must be ensured in the relevant country according to FIFA's relevant regulations. However, the World Cup will take place soon, and providing assurances during this time raises questions. Given these conditions, the likelihood of Iran participating in the World Cup matches in the USA is very low. But if the relevant security guarantees are provided, our government will make the decision for Iran to participate in the World Cup."

Donyamali stated that the security of any national team participating in the World Cup in a country must be guaranteed by FIFA; otherwise, FIFA should not allow the World Cup matches to be played in the USA.

The 23rd World Cup, organized by the USA, Mexico, and Canada, will be held from June 11 to July 19. Iran will play its group matches in the USA.
