Statement from President Erdogan on Narin Guran: I will personally follow up on the process.

Sad news came from Tavşantepe neighborhood, which is located in Bağlar district of Diyarbakır. Narin Güran, who went missing on August 21, was found dead by gendarmerie teams in Eğertutmaz Stream near the village. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who made a statement after the sad news, said, "I want it to be known that I will personally follow the judicial process for those who took our Narin away from us to receive the heaviest punishment they deserve."

In his post, President Erdoğan used the following expressions:

I pray to Allah for mercy for our Narin, whose body was found this morning in Bağlar district of Diyarbakır. The news of Narin, who was brutally murdered, deeply hurt all of us; our sorrow is indescribable. Since the report of Narin's disappearance was received, our security forces have made intense efforts to reach her alive. Unfortunately, we could not receive any news that would relieve our hearts after 19 days of search. We will ensure that those who killed Narin are held accountable before justice. I want it to be known that I will personally follow the judicial process for those who took our Narin away from us to receive the heaviest punishment they deserve.

STATEMENT FROM COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR FAHRETTİN ALTUN

After the development that plunged Turkey into mourning, a remarkable message came from Communications Director Fahrettin Altun.

Altun stated that President Erdoğan gave instructions for the investigation to continue meticulously and said, "We are deeply saddened by the fact that the lifeless body of our Narin, who was searched by our security units from the first minute and disappeared 19 days ago in Bağlar, Diyarbakır, has been found.

"THOSE WHO HARMED HER WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE BEFORE JUSTICE"

Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is closely following the ongoing investigation and the full clarification of the incident in order for those who harmed Narin to be held accountable before justice. We pray to Allah for mercy for our Narin. May she rest in peace," he said.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Narin Güran, who went to a Quran course in Tavşantepe neighborhood of Bağlar district on August 21, did not return home after the course, so her family searched for her on their own. When no results were obtained from the search, Narin's father Arif Güran reported that his daughter was missing on the same day around 20:00. As a result, numerous search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area, and searches were conducted in houses in the neighborhood and vehicles entering the village.

While the search was ongoing, Narin Güran's brother E.G. (18) was detained due to bite marks on his arm. Since it could not be determined whether the bite marks belonged to Narin in the examination at Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute, E.G. was released.

Then Narin's uncle, who is also the muhtar (village head) of rural Tavşantepe neighborhood, Salim Güran, was detained. Salim Güran, whose DNA samples taken from his car matched the DNA samples from Narin's clothes, was arrested for "intentional killing" and "deprivation of liberty."

The teams, who focused on previously searched areas again, conducted a search in Eğertutmaz Stream, which is 2 kilometers away from the neighborhood, and found Narin's lifeless body on the 19th day. It was determined that Narin was thrown into the stream with a sack after being killed and covered with stones.
