Özer Çiller, the husband of Turkey's first and only female prime minister, Former Prime Minister Tansu Çiller, has passed away at the age of 86 due to a heart attack.

The wife of former Prime Minister Tansu Çiller, Özer Uçuran Çiller, passed away at her home in Yeniköy. It was reported that Özer Uçuran Çiller died of a heart attack.

WHO IS ÖZER UÇURAN ÇİLLER?

Özer Uçuran Çiller, born in 1937, is an engineer and businesswoman. She had two children from her marriage to Tansu Çiller, the 22nd and first female Prime Minister of Turkey. After her marriage, she took the surname "Çiller".

After studying at Saint Joseph French High School, she completed her engineering and graduate engineering studies at Robert College (Boğaziçi University). She obtained an MBA degree from Boston and Connecticut universities in the United States. Until 1975, she served as the Economic Controls Director at Amatek Inc.

THE ÇILLER COUPLE HAD BEEN MARRIED FOR 61 YEARS

Özer Çiller, who married Tansu Çiller in 1963, returned to Turkey after 8 years in America. After her husband Tansu Çiller entered politics and became the first female Prime Minister in 1993, she took on the title of Turkey's first "Second gentleman". Since the early 2000s, Özer Çiller became interested in alternative medicine and has published books on the subject.
