In Spain, tenant associations have called for a nationwide "rent strike" against Alquiler Seguro, alleging that the company has profited unfairly through illegal practices. Tenants, reacting to rising rental costs and additional fees, are preparing to initiate the first national rent strike. Following complaints, the company has been fined 3.6 million euros, making this action a first in the country's history.

Tenant associations in Spain have called on tenants across the country to initiate a "rent strike" against the real estate company Alquiler Seguro, which is accused of profiting through illegal methods.

In a statement from the Confederation of Tenant Unions, to which the tenant associations are affiliated, it was noted that a campaign has been launched to organize the first national rent strike against the real estate company Alquiler Seguro, which it accuses of "illegal practices."

"WE ARE TIRED OF ABUSE"

The statement emphasized that tenants, especially in large cities like Madrid and Barcelona, have been forced to make unjust payments for years, stating, "We can no longer wait. We are tired of dozens of abuses, such as illegal fees (the agent's share reaching two or even three rents per rental), insurance and bills imposed through companies belonging to the same group, lack of housing maintenance, and fees of up to 200 euros just to see a property."

"IT WILL BE A HISTORIC EVENT"

The statement noted that the action would be a first in Spain, saying, "We will carry out this action because they ignore us, pocket their fraudulent profits, and impose malicious clauses in rental contracts. We will organize house by house, and this will be a historic event."

The statement indicated that the action is against rising rental costs, emphasizing that tenants have to pay more than 4,000 euros to move into a rental property every five years, and this amount is continuously increasing.

3.6 MILLION EURO FINE FOR THE COMPANY

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Consumption has approved a fine of 3.6 million euros for the Alquiler Seguro company, which is at the center of the complaints. According to the decision, the company will remove the clauses deemed abusive in rentals and correct the violations, in addition to the monetary penalty.
